Dr. Andrew Gowdey is a board-certified urologist with Oxford Urology Associates, caring for patients in Oxford, Tupelo and New Albany locations. He earned his medical degree at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. He completed his internship and urology residency at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis.
Dr. Gowdey specializes in robotic-assisted surgery for prostate and kidney cancers and in minimally invasive treatment of kidney stones. His focus on minimally invasive procedures helps patients achieve better outcomes with shorter recovery times.
In 2025, Dr. Gowdey founded the practice's Advanced Prostate Cancer Clinic, where he serves as Director. The clinic brings specialized care for advanced and metastatic prostate cancer to North Mississippi, so patients can get leading-edge treatment close to home rather than traveling to a distant referral center. He manages every part of each patient's advanced prostate cancer care:
• Diagnosis and staging, including advanced imaging such as PSMA PET
• Hormone therapy and the newest oral and injectable treatments
• Provenge (sipuleucel-T), a personalized immunotherapy made from the patient's own immune cells, given right in the office
• Ongoing monitoring and side-effect management
He coordinates closely with medical oncology and radiation oncology so that each patient's care is aligned across specialties.
As a licensed prescriber and in-office dispensing physician, Dr. Gowdey dispenses advanced prostate cancer medications directly in the clinic. These include oral therapies such as androgen receptor inhibitors and Orgovyx (relugolix). Patients can start treatment the same day they are seen, without waiting on outside specialty pharmacies.
